Whiteville Man Charged with Felony Auto Theft and Extradition Warrant

CERRO GORDO, NC — A Whiteville resident is behind bars on a $25,000 bond after deputies investigated an auto theft in Cerro Gordo on Monday evening.

Wendell Wilson, 66, of Pine Log Road in Whiteville, was arrested by Columbus County Sheriff’s deputies at 8:16 p.m. on Sept. 14 following a call on Andrew Jackson Highway South West. Wilson was charged with one felony count of Larceny of a Motor Vehicle and served with an out-of-state fugitive warrant.

Wilson is being held at the Columbus County Detention Center under a $25,000 secured bond for the vehicle theft charge, while held without bond on the fugitive warrant.

All individuals named in this report are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Charges and case statuses may change as investigations and court proceedings continue.
