Columbus County, NC — AirLink-VitaLink team recently spent an evening with Buckhead Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department for a Landing Zone training session designed to strengthen coordinated emergency response.
AirLink is Novant Health’s air‑medical transport program providing 24/7 critical‑care helicopter response across southeastern North Carolina, while VitaLink delivers ground‑based critical‑care transport.
Buckhead Volunteer Fire & Rescue serves the rural Bolton area of Columbus County, operating from its station on Old Lake Road and responding to emergencies across the surrounding community.
The class focused on how joint training supports safe, efficient operations when establishing landing zones during critical incidents. Flight crews and firefighters reviewed approach protocols, communication practices, and scene‑safety measures that help ensure timely care for patients in emergency situations.
The Buckhead Fire Department hosted the session and continues to be a key partner in supporting safe, reliable emergency care across the region.
