Little River, SC — A multi‑unit residential building on Edgerton Drive sustained heavy damage early September 22 after a structure fire prompted a second‑alarm response from Horry County Fire Rescue. Crews were dispatched at 2:19 a.m., arriving to find flames showing through the roof. The fire was declared under control at approximately 3:30 a.m.
One unit suffered significant fire damage, while three additional units received smoke and water damage. No injuries were reported.
Six residents were displaced and are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross of South Carolina. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
A resident, D. Shoffner, shared publicly on Facebook that the incident occurred at their mother‑in‑law’s residence, adding that everyone was safe and expressing appreciation for HCFR’s response.
