New driver license office gives Columbus County residents another option during Whiteville renovation

By Coastal Carolina News Staff Writer

Columbus County residents will soon have an additional location for driver license services as a new N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles driver license office opens in Tabor City on Monday, October 5.

The new office will be located at 119 Lynwood Norris Road, across from Lake Tabor Boat Ramp, and will operate Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The location will serve both walk-in customers and those with scheduled appointments.

The opening comes at a time when driver license services in Whiteville have temporarily relocated. The permanent Whiteville driver license office at 917 Washington Street closed September 25 to allow for a long-term renovation project.

Residents are currently being served from a temporary office at the American Legion Post 137 Building at 76 Legion Drive in Whiteville.

State officials have said the new office is part of an ongoing effort to expand access to DMV services and improve customer access across growing communities.

Drivers are encouraged to check wait times before visiting an office and to use online DMV services when available.
