Jerry Lawrence Sellers 78 of Whiteville, NC passed on November 1, 2026 in Columbus County. He was born on January 19, 1948 in Columbus County. The son of the late Lawrence A. Sellers and Edna Louise Fowler Sellers.
Jerry was a lifelong farmer and a member of Beaverdam Original Freewill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife Ophelia Sellers; sons, Norman “Ted” White of Whiteville, Christopher White and wife Gaye of Whiteville; sisters, Nancy Faye Marshall of Wilmington, Ann Elaine Benikas and husband Leon of Falls Church, Virginia; granddaughter, Nicole Gibson and husband Ryan of Whiteville; great grandchildren, William Deacon Gibson, Elaina Gibson; nieces and nephews, Cynthia Wilson and husband Darren of Wilmington, Susan Cole and husband Michael of Oakon, Virginia, David Benikas and wife Rhonda of Hamilton, Virginia; great nieces and nephews, Jeremiah Wilson, Joshua Wilson, James Wilson, Samantha Cole, Rebecca Cole, Zachary Cole, Dalton Cole, Wyatt Benikas, Jacob Benikas.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Lana Gray Herdman and Husband Richard; Niece, Patricia Lynn Braswell; and a brother in law, James Marshall.
His funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, November 9, 2026 at Beaverdam Original Freewill Baptist Church located at 2665 Beaverdam Rd, Chadbourn, NC 28431 with Rev. Buddy Seay and Dr. Ron Hinson officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery located at 252 Rough and Ready Rd, Whiteville NC 28472.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Beaverdam Original Freewill Baptist Church.
