Annie Ruth Jacobs Fairfax, 88, died peacefully in her sleep on November 1, 2026 at Brunswick Cove located in Leland, North Carolina.
Ruth is preceded in death by; her parents, husband Alton Fairfax, sister Ammretha Jacobs , brother and sister-in-law; Archie Jacobs and Rena Jane Jacobs. Annie Ruth is survived by her two children; Frankie Fairfax Phelps and Alton Grant Fairfax, son-in-law Arty Phelps, daughter-in-law Gidget Fairfax, four grandchildren; Tiffany, Jeremy, Erin, and Kristin, and two great grandchildren; Jacob and Riley.
She was born on April 1, 1938 in Bolton to Alexander Jacobs and Reverend Alice Graham Jacobs. She graduated Waccamaw High School in 1956 and worked at Sears and Eckerds. In August of 1960, she married Alton Fairfax and celebrated 61 years of marriage together.
In her younger years, when she wasn’t fishing, she loved to drag little Frankie to go to the Belk’s on 2nd and Chestnut in Downtown. As she got older, she still enjoyed fishing, going to the Brunswick Senior Center in Leland and going out to eat with her family. She was a member of Leland Church of God but grew up at New Hope Baptist Church.
Family and friends will be received at 1:00 pm with the funeral service to follow. The service is scheduled for 2:00 pm on Thursday, November 5 at New Hope Baptist Church in Bolton, NC. Condolences will be offered at 7857 Old Lake Rd, Bolton, NC.
