Bolivia, NC — Mike Forte will remain chair of the Brunswick County Board of Commissioners after a 2/2 tie vote during this past Monday Commissioner meeting.
When everyone is compassionate about their positions, things can get heated – even when it feels like 110 degrees outside. This time, though, the exchange happened in a closed, air‑conditioned session.
Commissioner Randy Thompson alleged that Board Chair Mike Forte slammed his open hand on the desk and used what he described as vulgar words during that closed session last week.
Thompson characterized the behavior as unprofessional when raising the allegation publicly. Forte has not been charged with any crime, and all parties are presumed innocent.
