Driver Charged with Hit-and-Run, City Gun Discharge After Pursuit

 WHITEVILLE — An 18-year-old faces felony charges after law enforcement investigated a discharging firearm incident inside Whiteville city limits. Zyon Willis, 18, of Martin Luther King Avenue, was arrested Aug. 17 by Chadbourn police. Authorities charged Willis with possession of a stolen automobile, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, discharging a weapon into occupied property, discharging a firearm in the city, hit and run causing property damage, and driving without a license. Willis was held under a $17,500 secured bond.

All individuals listed are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
Charges and case statuses may change as investigations and court proceedings continue.
