Karen McMillan Ward of Chadbourn, NC passed on Wednesday August 19, 2026 at Columbus Regional Healthcare System. She was born March 24, 1956 in Robeson County, daughter of the late James Foy McMillan and Annie Elizabeth Dean McMillan. She was the widow of the late Terry Wayne Ward.
She was employed for over 20 years with Columbus County Government as Human Resources Technician. She was a member of Nakina Baptist Church.
She is survived by a daughter Karen Paige Ward (Michael) of Charlotte, NC, brother James Don McMillan (Donna) of Hampstead, NC and sister Patsy Simmons of Roanoke, VA.; special nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents and a son Terry Wayne Ward II, brother John Foy McMillan and brother-in-law Barry Simmons.
Her funeral service will be 3:00 pm Sunday August 23, 2026 at Peacock Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ragsdale Allsbrook officiating. Internment will be at Columbus Memorial Park. Visitation will be one hour prior to service.
