Conway, SC — The South Carolina Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation into a Friday evening crash that claimed the life of 33‑year‑old Annie Hucks of Conway and injured multiple others along Middle Ridge Avenue near West Perry Road.

Troopers reported that the collision occurred around 5:27 p.m. when a 2014 Ford sedan traveling south crossed the center line, sideswiped a Nissan, and then struck Hucks’ Mazda head‑on. Hucks was transported from the scene and later died of her injuries, according to the Horry County Coroner’s Office.

Two passengers riding with Hucks were taken to a hospital for treatment. The driver of the Ford sedan was also transported for medical evaluation. SCHP has not released the driver’s identity, age, or any information regarding potential charges.

No details have been provided about whether impairment is suspected, and authorities have not issued updates on the driver’s condition.

The crash reconstruction remains underway as troopers review vehicle positions, roadway evidence, and witness accounts. Toxicology results, if ordered, typically require additional processing time before findings are made public.

Hucks, a Conway resident, was remembered by family and friends over the weekend as news of the collision spread through the community. Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.

Coastal Carolina News will continue monitoring the case and will publish updates when SCHP releases further information.
