Chadbourn Updates Town Hall Security Policy for Council Members

Chadbourn Town Hall (CC News)

CHADBOURN NC — The Chadbourn Town Council has adopted a new building access policy governing Town Hall, establishing clear physical boundaries between elected officials and daily administrative operations.

Under the updated guidelines, council members are now permitted to utilize the back doors of Town Hall when attending public meetings, providing a direct and convenient entry point during board sessions. However, the policy explicitly restricts unfettered access to administrative staff offices and work areas throughout the building.

The security restrictions also apply to the Chadbourn Police Department facilities housed within the Town Hall complex, prohibiting unescorted access by council members into law enforcement spaces.

Town officials indicated that the policy change is intended to strike a balance between accommodating elected leaders during public assemblies and safeguarding sensitive municipal records, protecting confidential law enforcement files, and preventing unscheduled disruptions to town employees during regular working hours.
