WHITEVILLE, NC — Columbus County Parks and Recreation is currently accepting applications for a full-time Recreation Maintenance Assistant to help oversee and maintain public parks, athletic fields, and county facilities.
The position involves a wide variety of hands-on groundskeeping, construction, and event prep duties across county properties. Key responsibilities include:

Grounds & Equipment Maintenance: Operating mowers, chainsaws, weed eaters, and other light power equipment.

Facility Construction & Repair: Installing and repairing fencing, playground equipment, baseball backstops, picnic tables, shelters, and roofs.

Athletic Field Preparation: Preparing playing fields for games by mowing, painting, marking regulation lines, and moving bleachers.

Event Support: Setting up and dismantling facilities for special events and county-sponsored functions, as well as assisting with department programs.
