WHITEVILLE, NC — A 24-year-old local resident was taken into custody by Columbus County Sheriff’s deputies early Sunday morning following a traffic stop that yielded multiple driving and alcohol-related charges.
Blake Ian Leete, 24, was booked into the Columbus County Detention Center at 1:35 a.m. on Sunday, September 20, 2026.
According to arrest records from the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office, Leete was charged with:

Driving While Impaired (DWI)

Carrying an open container of alcohol after consuming

Operating a vehicle without liability insurance

Driving with a canceled, revoked, or suspended certification tag
Leete, whose residential history includes addresses in Whiteville and Nakina, was placed under a $1,500 secured bond following his arrest.
