BOLIVIA, NC — Brunswick Partnership for Housing will hold its annual Sleep Out Brunswick fundraiser October 16–17 at Brunswick Community College’s Alan Holden Public Safety Building in Bolivia. The event asks participants to give up their normal bedtime routines for one night to reflect on the instability faced by residents without reliable shelter.

Participants check in at 5:00 p.m. for an evening program that includes a brief informal exercise that helps explain the everyday pressures families face when resources are limited and why the sleep‑out matters. Instead of sleeping in their usual bed, individuals are encouraged to sleep outside in a tent, in a vehicle, on the floor, or in a cardboard setup. Organizers say the disruption is meant to build awareness, not recreate homelessness.
Off‑site participation is available through October 16 for those unable to attend the main event. Any safe location that breaks a participant’s normal routine qualifies.
Sleep Out Brunswick serves as a fundraiser for emergency shelter, transitional housing, rapid‑rehousing programs, case management, and Brunswick Partnership for Housing’s planned seven‑unit workforce housing project in Southport. Participants register, join or form teams, and share their fundraising link throughout the campaign. The organization provides a toolkit with talking points and promotional materials.
