BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC — A Southport man is facing felony and misdemeanor charges after police say a domestic incident earlier this month left a woman with visible injuries.
According to court records, Michael Ray Desjean, 44, was charged with assault by strangulation and misdemeanor crime of domestic violence following a September 13 incident investigated by the Boiling Spring Lakes Police Department. The warrant states Desjean placed his hands around the victim’s neck, lifted her, and moved her across the room while continuing to choke her. Redness was noted around her throat.
Desjean was booked into the New Hanover County Detention Center on September 21. The felony charge carried a $25,000 bond, while the domestic‑violence charge listed no monetary bond. He was released on September 23, 2026.
