Myrtle Beach, SC — A kidnapping alert issued out of Virginia ended in Myrtle Beach after officers located the suspect’s vehicle following a brief pursuit, according to police.
Virginia authorities notified Myrtle Beach officers that a 19‑year‑old, identified as Lorenzo Clairborne, was believed to be traveling south with a former girlfriend in the vehicle. The alert included a description and direction of travel, prompting Myrtle Beach police to begin monitoring inbound corridors.
Officers spotted the vehicle shortly after it entered the city. Police attempted a stop, but the driver accelerated, leading to a pursuit through several high‑traffic routes. Officers ended the chase without injury and took Clairborne into custody.
The victim was found in the vehicle. Myrtle Beach police said charges tied to the kidnapping and the pursuit are being coordinated between agencies in both states. Information regarding bond, extradition, and court scheduling has not yet been released.
