Two Columbus County Sheriff’s Office Command Staff Members Earn State Professional Certifications

WHITEVILLE, NC — Two members of the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office command staff were formally recognized by the agency for achieving major career milestones in law enforcement education and service.

Captain Donald Britt was awarded the Advanced Law Enforcement Certification and the Advanced Service Award. The Advanced Certification is the highest professional designation issued by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission, combining years of full-time sworn service, extensive advanced training hours, and higher education coursework.

Additionally, Lieutenant Shay Rogers was awarded the Intermediate Deputy Sheriff Certification by the North Carolina Sheriffs’ Education and Training Standards Commission, marking significant progress in career development, specialized tactical and administrative training, and field experience.

Sheriff’s Office leadership commended both officers for their continued leadership, professional development, and long-standing dedication to serving the citizens of Columbus County.
