Some cans labeled as Zero Sugar may actually contain full-sugar soda
More than 77,000 cans of 7UP Tropical have been recalled after some products labeled as Zero Sugar were found to contain the regular, full-sugar version of the soda.
The voluntary recall covers 3,240 cases, totaling 77,760 cans distributed in Utah. According to federal regulators, some individual cans were incorrectly labeled as 7UP Tropical Zero Sugar even though they contain the standard formula.
The recalled product was sold in 12-ounce cans packaged in 12-packs and can be identified by lot code UT06176 and a best-by date of March 17, 2027.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration classified the recall as a Class II event, indicating that exposure could cause temporary or medically reversible health effects, while the likelihood of serious health consequences is considered remote.
The labeling error may be especially important for consumers who monitor or restrict sugar intake, including those with diabetes and other dietary concerns.
Consumers who have the affected product should avoid consuming it if they need to limit sugar and may dispose of it or return it to the retailer for a refund, depending on store policy.
