OAK ISLAND — The Oak Island Police Department’s K9 Unit is officially back on the beat following a graduation ceremony at the 801 Ocean Event Center.

K9 Officers Sandy and Dune completed a rigorous 5-week, live-in training course at K2 K9 Solutions, logging over 200 hours of intensive law enforcement and support training alongside their handlers, Master Police Officers Beau Boose and Gary Green.

Department leadership expressed gratitude to town officials, partner agencies, and local residents – whose overwhelming support, including thousands of name submissions, drove the unit’s successful reintroduction. With training complete, Sandy and Dune are ready to serve the community.
