Downtown Myrtle Beach Free Winter Parking Period Begins

City of Myrtle Beach SC Seal

MYRTLE BEACH, SC — Drivers heading into the heart of downtown Myrtle Beach can take advantage of complimentary parking starting this fall.

From October 1, 2026, through February 28, 2027, parking at City of Myrtle Beach-owned spaces within the designated downtown district is entirely free. The free parking zone covers city-metered spaces and pay stations located east of Kings Highway, stretching from Sixth Avenue South up to 21st Avenue North.

City Spaces Only: The complimentary parking applies exclusively to spaces and lots owned and operated by the City of Myrtle Beach. Privately owned lots remain paid spaces year-round and feature distinct signage requiring payment.

Meter Verification: City meters and pay stations within the free zone are clearly labeled with “DO NOT PAY” notices.

Digital Apps: Mobile payment options, including the ParkMobile app and text-to-pay features, will automatically indicate that fees are waived for eligible spaces during the downtown winter period.

Overnight Guidelines: Overnight parking is permitted in areas not explicitly designated as “No Overnight Parking.” While overnight stays in standard vehicles are allowed during the winter program, sleeping in vehicles, RVs, campers, and trailers is prohibited.
