BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC — The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office recently recognized two local residents for their generous donations, including a handcrafted blanket that will support Special Olympics fundraising efforts and a photograph showcasing the beauty of the region.

According to the sheriff’s office, Cathy Green presented a crocheted Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run blanket that will be taken to the North Carolina Special Olympics state conference and used as a raffle item. The blanket was handcrafted specifically for the fundraising effort and is expected to be awarded to one raffle winner during the event.

Law enforcement agencies across North Carolina regularly participate in the Law Enforcement Torch Run, a long-standing initiative that raises funds and awareness for Special Olympics programs.

The sheriff’s office also received a framed photograph from Keith Green, a local photographer known for capturing scenes from across Brunswick County and southeastern North Carolina. Officials said the photograph will be displayed and enjoyed by members of the agency.

In a public statement, the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office expressed appreciation for the couple’s contributions, noting that both gifts reflected a commitment to community involvement and support for local causes.

The donation of the Special Olympics blanket highlights the ongoing partnership between law enforcement agencies and Special Olympics athletes, while the photograph serves as a reminder of the local landscapes and communities deputies serve every day.

Officials thanked Cathy and Keith Green for sharing their talents and supporting both the sheriff’s office and Special Olympics fundraising efforts.
