A Flood Watch* issued by the National Weather Service in Wilmington will take effect at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 10, as tropical moisture moves into the region, bringing the potential for heavy rainfall and flash flooding through this Sunday morning.

​Forecasters warn that showers and thunderstorms will produce heavy rainfall across the area, with widespread totals ranging from 2 to 4 inches and localized areas potentially seeing up to 8 inches. The excessive runoff could trigger flooding in rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying or flood-prone locations.

​In North Carolina, the watch applies to Coastal Brunswick, Coastal New Hanover, Coastal Pender, Columbus, Inland Brunswick, Inland New Hanover, and Inland Pender.

In South Carolina, the watch covers Central Horry, Coastal Georgetown, Coastal Horry, Inland Georgetown, and Northern Horry.
