Surfside Beach, SC — The Surfside Beach Fire Department and local emergency personnel have successfully cleared the road hazard at the intersection of 2nd Avenue North and North Hollywood Drive following an earlier morning incident involving a fallen tree and downed power lines.

Crews from the Surfside Beach Fire Department, Surfside Beach Police Department, and Santee Cooper worked collaboratively to remove the debris, repair line damage, and restore safe access to the area. The intersection has officially been reopened, and normal traffic flow has resumed.

Town officials thank residents and motorists for their patience, cooperation, and caution during the temporary road closure.

As a reminder, drivers should always exercise caution when traveling through recently cleared zones. Never attempt to drive over or approach downed power lines under any circumstances. If you encounter a hazardous situation or damaged utility line, maintain a safe distance and immediately call 9-1-1
