SOUTHPORT, NC — The City of Southport is inviting residents and visitors to gather in the heart of downtown and celebrate the start of the holiday season during the annual Downtown Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday, December 4, at 6:00 p.m. at Whittler’s Bench.
The evening will feature the lighting of Southport’s downtown Christmas tree by Mayor Hatem, marking the official beginning of the city’s holiday festivities. Families and friends will also enjoy performances by the Trinity United Methodist Church Children’s Choir, which will fill the air with traditional Christmas carols.
To add to the festive atmosphere, the Southport Beautification Committee will serve complimentary hot chocolate and cookies for attendees.

Come on out, enjoy the music, meet new friends and start the season as Southport’s Christmas tree shines brightly in historic downtown.
