Southport, NC — A fatal collision claimed the life of an Oak Island resident Thursday evening in Southport. Emergency responders were called to the scene along NC 211 near Oakview Drive around 8:35 p.m. on Thursday, October 22, following reports of a motor vehicle striking a pedestrian.
First responders arriving at the crash site located the pedestrian, identified as 56-year-old Tina Lambert of Oak Island. Lambert suffered fatal injuries in the impact and was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to preliminary investigation details from law enforcement, Lambert was attempting to cross the roadway on foot at the time of the collision and was not within an established pedestrian crosswalk or crossing lane. Authorities confirmed that the driver involved in the incident stayed on scene and will not face any charges in connection with the crash.
