Coastal Flood Advisory and Beach Hazards Issued Across Horry County Amid Gusty Fall Conditions
HORRY COUNTY, SC — Bright, sunny skies and mild autumn temperatures will hold across Horry County and the Grand Strand through the coming week. However, coastal residents, beachgoers, and commuters should prepare for minor tidal flooding, gusty northeasterly winds, and rough surf conditions along the coast through Sunday.
High pressure remaining settled over the region will keep conditions dry and pleasant throughout the week. High temperatures will stay in the low-to-mid 70s through Friday. A tight pressure gradient will produce strong, breezy northeasterly winds across the Grand Strand through Sunday night, with gusts reaching up to 30 mph on Sunday before conditions ease early next week.

-
Breezy Driving Conditions: Exercise extra caution when driving high-profile vehicles along major coastal corridors, including SC-31, US-17, and elevated waterway bridges, due to wind gusts up to 30 mph through Sunday.
Ocean & Beach Safety

Longshore & Rip Current Hazards: Swimmers and surfers should exercise extreme caution along Grand Strand beaches. Strong longshore currents can sweep individuals into piers, jetties, and rip currents, making it difficult to return to shore. Check with local lifeguards before entering the water.
