Sunday voting ousted from final schedule

Columbus County, NC — The North Carolina State Board of Elections on Thursday, August 20, 2026, approved a five-site early-voting plan for Columbus County for the upcoming November 2026 general election after reviewing the county board’s non-unanimous submission.
When the county board couldn’t agree, the decision was kicked up to the State Board to settle it.
The final order ousted Sunday voting, leaving weekday and Saturday in place for the 2026 primary period.
The State Board approved the following 5 early‑voting sites:
Columbus County Board of Elections Office located at 2586 James B. White Highway North, Building B, Whiteville.
Fair Bluff Fire Department at 152 Main Street in Fair Bluff.
Chadbourn Municipal Annex at 208 E. 1st Avenue in Chadbourn.
Tabor City Courthouse, 110 W. 4th Street, Tabor City and at the Ransom Activity Center located at 2696 General Howe Highway, in Riegelwood.
