Whiteville NC – A Whiteville-area mother and stepfather remain behind bars following an investigation into allegations of child sexual abuse, according to court documents and law enforcement records.
Zackery Lynn Pratt, 30, and Brittany Pratt, 31, were taken into custody and made their initial court appearance today. Each suspect faces a felony charge of child abuse involving a sexual act.
According to arrest warrants, the charges stem from allegations that the couple permitted an adult male to sexually abuse a nine-year-old girl. Investigators report that the alleged incident occurred in June.
The case was investigated by the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office. Following their initial court appearance, both Zackery Pratt and Brittany Pratt were placed under a $25,000 secured bond each at the Columbus County Detention Center.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have requested anyone with additional information regarding the case to contact the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office.
All individuals listed are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
