CERRO GORDO, NC — A domestic disturbance involving a weapon on Sunday afternoon led to the arrest of a Cerro Gordo resident.
Deputies with the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on Page Mill Road around 2:00 p.m. on Sept. 13 after a female victim reported being assaulted with a blunt object, described in reports as a club or hammer.
Following the investigation, deputies arrested Jesse Monroe Godwin, 50, of Page Mill Road, and charged him with Assault on a Female. Godwin was booked into the Columbus County Detention Center, where he was ordered held under domestic violence laws with no bond.
All individuals named in this report are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Charges and case statuses may change as investigations and court proceedings continue.
