Southbound lanes briefly closed as firefighters worked a small blaze between International Drive and Highway 501.
Carolina Forest, SC — A small woods fire along Highway 31 on September 19 led to temporary traffic disruptions as Horry County Fire Rescue responded to the scene. Crews were dispatched at 1:40 p.m. to the area between International Drive and Highway 501, where a fire estimated at less than an acre prompted the closure of southbound lanes during the initial response.
The fire was fully contained by 4:45 p.m., and units cleared the scene shortly afterward. Smoke remained visible into the evening and was expected to linger until the area receives meaningful rainfall. Crews continued monitoring conditions following containment to ensure the site remained stable.
