HALLSBORO, NC — A Hallsboro resident was taken into custody on Thursday afternoon following a traffic stop by Columbus County Sheriff’s deputies.
Michael Dean Ward, 53, of 253 Hallsboro Road North, Hallsboro, was arrested at 12:17 p.m. on September 10.
Deputies initiated a traffic stop after observing a vehicle failing to maintain its lane of travel. Following an investigation at the scene, Ward was placed under arrest.
Ward was charged with:

Driving while impaired (DWI)

Failure to maintain lane control
He was processed at the Columbus County Detention Center and released later that day.
