LORIS, SC — Loris is moving into its final stretch of preparations for the 47th Annual Loris Bog‑Off Festival, the city’s signature fall celebration that draws thousands into downtown each October. This year’s event, scheduled for Saturday, October 17, from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00p.m. This years ‘Loris-Bog’ will carry the theme “Beachin’ & Boggin’,” blending coastal flair with the hometown cooking competition that has defined the festival for nearly half a century.
A large and varied vendor turnout is in the works, including food booths, Chicken Bog, craft sellers, retail tents, large children’s activity zones, community organizations and more Chicken Bog. The festival footprint will again center on Main Street, Railroad Avenue, and Broad Street, which convert to pedestrian‑only access during the event.
The day’s lineup includes the People’s Choice Bog Competition, a car show, and a full slate of entertainment capped by a performance from The Catalinas, a longtime favorite among Bog‑Off crowds. Volunteers and seasonal staff are being recruited through the Loris Chamber of Commerce to help manage vendor areas, parking flow, and festival logistics.
Getting to Loris is straight forward, following the well‑traveled corridors that feed into northern Horry County. Traffic typically moves in along SC 9 North from Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach, US 701 North from Conway, and SC 905 from the northern Grand Strand. Drivers enter downtown via SC 9 Business, where volunteers guide vehicles toward designated parking areas.
Public parking is available near Loris Elementary School, Loris High School, and marked downtown lots. Overflow areas open as needed, and visitors make a short walk into the festival zone once parked.
