LUMBERTON, N.C. — A multi-agency narcotics investigation in Lumberton led to the arrest of three individuals Thursday following the execution of search warrants at two local properties.
Investigators with the Border Belt Drug Task Force raided residences located at 13805 Hwy 41 N. and 148 Beth Drive on Sept. 24, according to a press release from the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office. During the searches, officers seized quantities of cocaine, marijuana, U.S. currency, firearms, and drug paraphernalia.
Three suspects were taken into custody facing various drug-related charges:

Shannon L. Clark faces the most severe charges, including trafficking in cocaine, two counts of possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver cocaine, possession with intent to sell/deliver marijuana, conspiracy to sell cocaine, two counts of maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances, and multiple paraphernalia charges. Clark was jailed under no bond.

Sarah R. Smith was charged with conspiracy to sell cocaine, possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver cocaine, possession with intent to sell/deliver marijuana, maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances, and paraphernalia charges. Smith was placed under a $50,000 bond.

Venus Jacobs was charged with felony possession of cocaine and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond for Jacobs was set at $5,000.
The Border Belt Drug Task Force was established in July 2026 to enhance inter-agency investigations and prosecutions across southeastern North Carolina. The unit brings together personnel from the Columbus, Robeson, and Bladen County Sheriff’s Offices alongside the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI).
All individuals named in this report are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Charges and case statuses may change as investigations and court proceedings continue.
