Ida was born on May 2, 1934 in Madison County, KY and was daughter of the late Alton and Bessie Ashcraft Hale. Ida was in the Army during the Korean conflict. She was a member of Dixon Chapel Methodist Church and was treasurer of the Dixon Chapel Ladies Club. Ida was also a member of the Holden Beach Seniors Club. For 19 years, she served as Varnamtown’s Town Clerk. She was preceded in death by her husband, LaVerne; sister, Mavis Wright; brother, Herman Hale.
She is survived by her two sons, Tony Norris and Greg Norris and wife, Chaunda, of Supply; grandson, Jabin Norris and wife, Elise; two great-grandchildren, Ezekiel and Zoey Norris; numerous nieces and nephews; two special neighbors, Curtis and Sara Fulford; a very special friend, Mary Ellen Varnam; and a very special caregiver, Sandy Fulford.
A Funeral Service will be held at Dixon Chapel Methodist Church in Varnamtown, NC on September 27, 2026, beginning at 3:00 pm, with J.B. Kennedy, Bill Negron, and Greg Norris officiating. An interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jabin Norris, Billy Hickman, Chezley McDonald, Kenny Holden, Eddie Galloway, and Logan Galloway.
