Police say no shots were fired and no injuries were reported after an incident that initially prompted a report of an armed robbery.
LELAND, NC — A reported armed robbery at the Walmart in Leland turned out to be a domestic dispute between two individuals who knew each other, according to the Leland Police Department. Officers responded to the store Thursday afternoon after receiving the initial call and quickly determined the incident was not a robbery.
Police located an armed individual at the scene and took that person into custody. Authorities said no shots were fired, no injuries were reported, and there was no ongoing threat to shoppers or the surrounding community.
The incident briefly drew attention from residents after reports of an armed robbery began circulating. Investigators later determined the situation stemmed from a domestic matter rather than a random act of violence.
As of the latest information released by police, the identity of the individual arrested had not been made public and charges remained pending.
