COLUMBUS COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE INCIDENT LOG FOR AUGUST 20, 2026

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC — The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office responded to several calls for service on August 20, 2026, including larcenies from construction sites, vehicle break-ins, property damage, and assaults.

Below is a summary of incidents reported across the county:

  • Property Damage (Evergreen): Deputies responded to the 1000 block of Mangum Road shortly after midnight regarding damage to a Mazda CX-9.

  • Stolen Pets (Delco): A larceny was reported on Livingston Chapel Road around 8:14 a.m. involving stolen pets valued at $1.00.

  • Cash Theft (Whiteville): Around 8:16 a.m., $300 in cash was reported stolen from a residence on Forest Drive West.

  • Vehicle Break-In (Evergreen): Officers responded to Haynes Lennon Highway around 9:50 a.m., where a purple Acer Chromebook valued at $140 was stolen out of a motor vehicle.

  • Construction Site Larceny (Tabor City): Two Carrier AC units, valued together at $4,600, were stolen from a Century Complete Homes job site on Cotton Wood Drive.

  • Assault Call (Tabor City): Deputies responded to an assault call on Bill Long Road shortly after 9:00 p.m. involving two male victims ages 30 and 52.

Traffic stops and warrant services were also conducted along Washington Street and North Madison Street in Whiteville throughout the day.

All suspects listed are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
