CONWAY, SC — A North Carolina man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to first‑degree burglary and attempted murder tied to a 2024 shooting inside the Grande Dunes neighborhood, according to the Fifteenth Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
Traymon Malik Britt, 28, of Durham, entered the plea Wednesday before Circuit Court Judge Alex B. Hyman. Senior Assistant Solicitor Seth Oskin prosecuted the case.
Prosecutors said Britt pleaded guilty without any recommendation or negotiations from the state. The burglary charge carried a mandatory minimum of 15 years and a maximum of life in prison, while attempted murder carried up to 30 years. Judge Hyman imposed 20 years on each charge and ordered the sentences to run concurrently. Britt must serve at least 85 percent of the sentence before becoming eligible for parole.
A second man, Jayquan Pollard, 27, of Lynchburg, Va., was also charged in the incident. Pollard pleaded guilty in January, a month before his scheduled trial, and received a 15‑year prison sentence.
Oskin said the victim was shot in the hand and has faced significant financial strain during his recovery. He credited Sgt. Jacob Duesing and the Myrtle Beach Police Department for their work investigating the case.
“To be targeted based on your financial success and found in your gated neighborhood is truly scary,” Oskin said. “Britt’s co‑defendant, Jayquan Pollard, told police everything that happened, and that allowed us to bring this defendant to justice. But whether it happens on Cedar Street or in the Grande Dunes, the solicitor and the Myrtle Beach Police Department take all cases seriously when our law‑abiding citizens are victimized. Our most recent sentences on charges such as these reflect strong justice, and we are grateful the victim is satisfied with today’s outcome.”
