LONGS, SC — A Longs man died after his vehicle was discovered Tuesday morning in the tree line near the 1500 block of Highway 31 East, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Troopers identified the driver as Jesus Gomez Sacalxot, 27.
Investigators say Sacalxot had been driving over the posted speed limit late Monday night when he lost control of the vehicle while traveling along Highway 31 East. The vehicle overcorrected, went off the roadway and struck a tree.
The crash was not immediately located overnight. The vehicle was found Tuesday morning in the tree line. South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate.
