Bolivia, NC — The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office says it will soon launch a Flock Safety Transparency Portal to help address community questions about how license plate reader cameras are used in the county. The portal will be added to the agency’s official website at brunswicksheriff.com.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, residents have raised concerns about what the flock cameras capture, how the information is stored, who can access it, and what safeguards are in place. Officials said those questions are fair and that the new portal is intended to give the public clearer access to accurate information.
The portal, expected to go live in the coming days, will include answers to frequently asked questions about Flock Safety technology and details about how the Sheriff’s Office uses — and does not use — the cameras under its policy. The agency says the goal is to provide straightforward information about the technology, oversight measures, and the limitations placed on its use.
Officials said trust depends on transparency and accountability, and the Sheriff’s Office wants residents to have the information needed to better understand how Flock cameras function as a public safety tool in Brunswick County.
