Friday’s Lockdown Lifted at East Bladen High School Following Safety Concern

School Lockdown (CC News)

ELIZABETHTOWN NC — A precautionary lockdown at East Bladen High School was lifted Friday afternoon after law enforcement investigated a potential security threat and determined campus was safe.

The Bladen County Sheriff’s Office responded to the high school on Sept. 4 after learning of an off-campus situation involving an East Bladen student and an individual identified as her boyfriend. As a safety measure, school administrators placed the building on lockdown while deputies evaluated the situation and secured the perimeter.

Following an assessment by school resource officers and investigating deputies, authorities confirmed there was no active threat to students, staff, or the surrounding community.

Students were kept on campus and dismissed on their normal Friday schedule. Out of an abundance of caution, the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office stationed additional deputies on campus throughout dismissal to maintain a safe and orderly exit.

The incident remains under investigation by the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office.
