MYRTLE BEACH, SC — A 42‑year‑old Myrtle Beach man was arrested early Sunday morning on multiple misdemeanor drug and traffic offenses following a stop near Highway 501 and Alder Street.
According to incident records, Denton Hector Powell, Black male, age 42, was taken into custody at approximately 1:14 a.m. on September 13. Officers reported charging Powell with three misdemeanor offenses: possession of less than 28 grams (one ounce) of marijuana (first offense), driving under suspension where the suspension is not DUI‑related (third or subsequent offense), and failure to give or giving an improper turn or stop signal.
The arrest occurred in the 800 block of Highway 501/Alder Street. Case information was logged at the same time as the arrest.
In addition to the arrest, Powell was issued three citations connected to the incident. Citation records show he was cited for possession of less than 28 grams of marijuana, driving under suspension (third or subsequent offense), and failing to give or giving an improper turn or stop signal. All citations were recorded at Highway 501/Alder Street.
