CONWAY, SC — A Longs man has been sentenced to 32 years in prison after pleading guilty to murder in a 2025 shooting, according to Fifteenth Circuit Solicitor Jimmy Richardson.
Da’shauan Knox, 22, of Longs, entered the guilty plea on Monday, September 14, 2026. Assistant Solicitor Delbert Leasure, along with Violent Crimes Assistant Solicitor James Stanko, prosecuted the case for the Fifteenth Circuit Solicitor’s Office. Knox pleaded guilty without any recommendation or negotiation regarding his sentence. His case had been scheduled for trial this week.
Circuit Court Judge David Caraker sentenced Knox to 32 years in prison.
Knox will not be eligible for early or supervised release and must serve the entire sentence. He also received a strike under South Carolina’s three‑strikes law, meaning any future conviction for a serious offense could result in a life‑without‑parole sentence.
The charges stem from a March 13, 2025 shooting on Freemont Road in Longs. Investigators said Knox was dropped off at 289 Freemont Road and, shortly afterward, returned to a vehicle that was backing out of the driveway. Knox then shot two people inside the car. One victim died a short time later. The second victim, who suffered two gunshot wounds to the shoulder, identified Knox as the shooter.
Witnesses reported a dispute between Knox and one of the victims involving Knox’s grandmother. Knox later surrendered to law enforcement that night.
