ACP Foundation, Food Bank Partner to Open New Pantry Serving Columbus County

Community meeting set for Sept. 18 in Whiteville

WHITEVILLE, NC — A new effort to expand food‑access services in Columbus County is taking shape as the Annie Catherine Pridgen Community Development Foundation (ACP Foundation) moves forward with plans to open a community food pantry in partnership with the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina.

The pantry will operate through ACP’s Southeastern Resource & Logistics Center and is designed to provide families with consistent access to fresh produce, shelf‑stable groceries, and essential household items. ACP leaders say the partnership strengthens their long‑term goal of building reliable support systems for residents facing food insecurity.

In its announcement, the foundation emphasized that collaboration is the driving force behind the project, noting that the Food Bank’s regional network will help ensure a steady supply of nutritious food for local households. The pantry is expected to serve communities across Columbus County once operations begin.

To prepare for the launch, ACP Foundation is hosting an informational meeting on Wednesday, September 18, 2026, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at MOHSMC, 5487 Silver Spoon Road in Whiteville. The session will outline volunteer roles, leadership opportunities, and ways local organizations can partner with the pantry.
