Calabash, NC — Police Operations Administrator Sherry Draheim was recognized last Friday during the Calabash Elks Lodge’s annual First Responder Appreciation ceremony, an event that highlights personnel who go above and beyond their standard duties. Draheim was selected as this year’s honoree for the Sunset Beach Police Department.
Her role has expanded well beyond traditional administrative support, now encompassing operational coordination, regulatory compliance oversight, records management, and direct involvement in core law‑enforcement processes that influence investigations, prosecutions, and departmental liability.
Draheim works both independently and in coordination with outside agencies, including the State’s Attorney’s Office and the State Bureau of Investigation. Her responsibilities include managing the department’s digital‑evidence workflow — reviewing and coordinating redactions, ensuring secure submission, and documenting body‑worn camera footage for criminal cases. She also serves as the department’s liaison during SBI audits, overseeing policy adherence, required documentation, compliance verification, and any corrective follow‑up.
Beyond the technical demands of the position, Draheim supports command staff through operational coordination, documentation oversight, and interagency communication.
