WHITEVILLE, NC — A confrontation at a Whiteville business on Saturday evening led to multiple misdemeanor charges against a Tabor City man.
Deangalo Deran Lewis, 39, of 101 Queen Street, Tabor City, was arrested by deputies at 8:42 p.m. on September 19 following an incident at 701 Food and Tobacco on Highway 701.
According to law enforcement reports, officers responded to a disturbance at the store. When deputies attempted to address the situation, Lewis allegedly became belligerent, resisted officers, and assaulted a responding law enforcement officer.
Lewis was booked into the Columbus County Detention Center on charges of:

Assault on a government official/employee

Resisting a public officer

Disorderly conduct
Lewis was placed in the detention facility under no bond on the assault and disorderly conduct counts.
