Columbus County Sheriff’s Office Incident Reports

The following incident details were obtained from official public records provided by the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office. 

Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2026

• Traffic Stop & Weapons Charges (Tabor City): Cpl. Stone A. Lee responded to the 11100 block of Old Stake Road in Tabor City at 8:50 a.m. regarding charges of resisting a public officer, carrying a concealed gun, and failure to stop for a stopped school bus. Reported property seized included a Springfield Armory XDM Elite .9mm handgun, 14 live rounds of ammunition, a black and green knife, a silver knife, and a black Chevrolet Cruze.

• Larceny (Whiteville): Cpl. Lee responded to the 800 block of Washington Street in Whiteville at 11:47 a.m. to investigate a report of misdemeanor larceny.

• Drug & Traffic Charges (Whiteville): Cpl. Lee responded to the Probation and Parole office on N. James B. White Highway in Whiteville at 11:24 a.m. regarding charges of possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver a Schedule II controlled substance, and driving while license revoked (non-impaired).

• Weapon in Prison (Whiteville): Deputy Travis E. Tyson investigated an incident at the local facility on Prison Camp Road at 1:34 p.m. involving the possession of a dangerous weapon in prison. A homemade blue edged weapon with a sharp tip was seized as evidence.

• Contraband / Found Narcotics (Whiteville): Deputy Tyson responded to a separate incident at the Prison Camp Road facility at 2:52 p.m. involving found narcotics. Officers recovered five Suboxone strips inside an envelope.

• Shooting into Vehicle & Assault (Clarkton): Cpl. Lee responded to the 6300 block of N. Hallsboro Road in Clarkton at 3:10 p.m. following reports of discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle and assault with a deadly weapon. The incident involved a white Chrysler 300 and a Nissan Altima.

• Property Larceny (Hallsboro): Deputy James Lennon responded to the 300 block of Jockey Road in Hallsboro at 4:21 p.m. to investigate the theft of an old tractor valued at approximately $5,000.
