TABOR CITY — A Tabor City man was booked into the Columbus County Detention Center Tuesday morning after an incident involving a stopped school bus led deputies to discover a concealed handgun and multiple knives.
According to the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office, Cpl. Stone A. Lee responded to the 11100 block of Old Stake Road near Tabor City around 8:50 a.m. on Sept. 22.
Deputies arrested 35-year-old David Lee Barnhill of 120 School St., Tabor City. Barnhill is charged with failing to stop for a stopped school bus, carrying a concealed gun, and resisting a public officer. During the stop, officers seized a black Springfield Armory XDM Elite .9mm handgun, 14 live rounds of ammunition, a black and green knife, a silver knife, and a black Chevrolet Cruze.
Barnhill was booked into the detention center and was held with no bond.
