DELCO, NC — A manhunt is underway on the east end of Columbus County after a sheriff’s deputy was shot during a traffic stop Wednesday morning. Heavy law enforcement presence is concentrated in the Delco area, particularly around Prosper Road and Livingston Chapel Road, where multiple agencies have established a search perimeter.
Authorities say the deputy was transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center following the shooting. The sheriff’s office has not released the deputy’s name or condition.
Residents in the immediate area are being urged to shelter in place, lock their doors, and avoid the active search zone until further notice. The sheriff’s office has not released a suspect description or any additional details about the person being sought.
