Status update for Thursday, Sept. 24

Brunswick County, NC — The Brunswick County Fire Marshal has not lifted the burn ban for unincorporated Brunswick County as of Thursday morning, September 24.
The local restriction remains in effect in unincorporated areas.
The ban continues to prohibit all outdoor burning within 100 feet of any structure| in unincorporated areas. County officials report that dry fuels and low humidity levels still present a heightened ignition risk.
The Fire Marshal will issue a public notice once conditions improve enough for the ban to be lifted; no such notice has been released.
A clarification for residents: North Carolina does not have a statewide burn ban in effect. Current restrictions are issued at the county and municipal level, and Brunswick County’s local ban remains active until further guidance is provided.
