Mary was born on April 27, 1945, in Person County, NC; daughter of the late Major Daniel and Virginia Lucille Palmer Ragan. Mary loved animals, not only her own, but the neighbor’s kitties as well, along with any wildlife that came into her yard. She loved to read, as anyone could see from all the books in her home. Mary worked hard all her life, her last years of working were as a housekeeper for Dosher Memorial Hospital in Southport.
She married Arnold Adams Long, in December of 1965, in Person County, NC. He preceded her in death April 12, 2023.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Christine Miles, Catherine Long and Charlene Long all of Southport; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Along with her husband she is preceded in death by her great granddaughter, Rylie and two brothers.
Services will be held at a later date.
